This dashboard contains the most recent data regarding fatal overdoses in Maryland. It is intended for use as a surveillance tool to illustrate recent overdose trends. Data for 2021 are preliminary and subject to change.

The data shown on this dashboard are provided by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the Vital Statistics Administration (VSA) of the Maryland Department of Health as of March 10, 2022. Finalized annual data may be found on VSA’s website here: https://health.maryland.gov/vsa/Pages/overdose.aspx.

Most fatal overdoses involve the simultaneous use of more than one substance. The individual substance categories shown here report the total number of times a substance was involved in a fatal overdose. The sum total of deaths related to individual substance categories does not equal the total number of fatalities for the time frame presented.
